Some of the prettiest, and most common indoor plants, can also be the most toxic for your furry friends. So it's important to know what plants are safe, should your cheeky cat or dog decide to have a chew.

Here are some gorgeous indoor plants that are completely safe for your furry friend:

  1. Fittonia - a super cute, low growing plant that's happy in low light and still keeps it gorgeous colour.
  2. Calathea or Ctenanthe - these plants love a bright spot by the window and will reward your with big, patterned foliage.
  3. Ferns - All true ferns are safe for pets! There are so many fabulous
  4. Spider Plant - This household favourite is also great at purifying the air and loves living in a humid bathroom.
  5. Rhipsalis - Easy, unusual, flowering, low-light, what's not to love with this indoor plant? Honestly one of the best of the best for your house and your pets.
  6. Kentia Palm - Tall, graceful, happy in low light, and also safe
  7. Peperomia - So many delightful varieties to choose from, whether you want speckled leaves or cascading or ones that look like mini watermelons! Just make sure they are kept near a bright window.

To keep your pets extra safe, here are some plants that you should AVOID:

  1. Anything with white sap (such as any ficus, euphorbia, or schefflera). White sap is toxic to eat and also irritates the skin.
  2. Dieffenbachia - this one will actually restrict airways - bad for humans too!
  3. Peace Lilly - Like all lilies, the flowers are especially toxic.
  4. Anthuriums - a wide-range of beautiful leaves and colourful flowers but alas, not good for pets that chew plants.
  5. Syngonium - another indoor favourite but keep it out of reach of your furry friends.
